Introduction.

Some years ago I discovered a website dedicated to abandoned and little known airfields in the United States. Searching the web I discovered there was nothing like that about European airfields, although you would think that two World Wars and the Cold War would have left some mark on our continent.
As you have to start somewhere, I decided to build something similar about airfields in Europe, starting in the Netherlands and Belgium. From there I soon expanded into the rest of Europe. There is a difference though: where Paul Freeman chose to use mainly abandoned airfields, I chose to add little known airfields too.
This is a work in progress and I do not in any way pretend to have the full picture. If you have any information available that might be of interest, do not hesitate to contact me.
Please ignore the column on the right. It is written in Dutch, explains what I've already told you, and then tells the reader we will continue in English, because that's what we speak in aviation.

Inleiding.

Important notice!

In October 2012 I was approached by a reader of this website. Being an aviation enthousiast and a helicopter pilot,
he told me he had considered building a website like the one built by Paul Freeman, until he happened to bump into
this one. He offered to join forces, beginning by offering the website platform he had built as a hobby. Not without
hesitation I asked him to show me what he had built. After making some adjustments, he and I began migrating to his
platform on a new website. As of April 2013 the website you are looking at is no longer being maintained. In fact, I am
slowly dismantling it, referring articles to the new website. I would like you all to move to that new website, which is now
located at
www.forgottenairfields.com.
Please update your bookmarks.
